You should start thinking about colleges and careers that might be a good fit and start exploring those areas.
Career fairs are good places to start, but it's never too soon to set foot on a college campus. All sophomores will be attending NWC career fair in April. We will be doing a career activity prior to attending the career fair. It is always helpful if start thinking of careers that they would like to learn more about prior to attending the career fair.
**You also want to continue building up a scholarship resume. The more extracurricular, leadership and volunteer opportunities, the better!!!
In November, you did two different types of career interest inventories. I am excited to be working one-on-one with each of you as a follow-up to those presentations. I will be pulling you to discuss their high school graduation plan, the Hathaway scholarship, post-secondary plans and your current career interests. In addition to discussing academics and careers, am doing an overall check on how your high school experience is going.
If your parents would like to attend your meeting, please have them contact me so that I may schedule a meeting with you all.
Check out this AWESOME website, called BigFuture. https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/
It is a great resource!
BigFuture’s step-by-step approach makes college planning easy to navigate and helps students learn how to overcome the barriers that college seems out of reach. It helps families see that college is possible, and can help keep students on track towards a college education.
